Keep Motivated with Mental Simulations

Imagine yourself doing an activity step by step, but try not to focus too much on the end goal. Vividly imagining the joy and sense of accomplishment after reaching a goal can boost initial motivation, but living through that moment over and over can take away energy to actually work towards the goal and increase the contrast between what you want to achieve and where you are currently at. Study participants who imagined the joy of reaching their goal more often were indeed less likely to reach their goal.

Keep your mental simulations focused on the process rather than the outcome to maintain your motivation.
