Your Personal Elevator Pitch

Meeting new colleagues or professional peers can be a challenging situation, as you will be keen to provide a good (or even excellent) first impression. Having a short pitch handy to introduce yourself effectively in both formal and casual settings is a valuable resource. Crafting and always having your elevator pitch at hand can reduce cognitive load by ensuring you’re always ready to present yourself confidently and clearly in any situation.

  1. Develop Your Pitch: Write a 90-second summary of your professional background, highlighting key milestones from the start of your career to the present.
  2. Practice: Rehearse your pitch in front of a mirror or record yourself to refine your delivery and body language. Depending on the person you meet and the time you have available, you may want to start with only two sentences of your pitch but use more content from the pitch over the course of your conversation.
  3. Keep It Updated: Periodically review and update your pitch to reflect your latest achievements and experiences.
