Snack Saltily if You Must

It is recommended to not eat sugars on their own – however many snacks such as candy bars are mainly sugars and fats, leading to blood glucose peaks and subsequent dips. Frequent peaks of blood sugar levels may lead to diabetes in the long run and have other detrimental consequences to our bodies also in the short run. The dips lead to craving and negative feelings – the science shows that feeling ‘hangry’, a combination of hungry and angry, really comes from blood sugar lows.

A snack with low amounts of carbohydrates or sugar, think nuts or vegetables, hummus or peanut butter, will prevent blood glucose peaks.
