Refresher Trainings

Refreshers are a training form designed to go over and recapitulate already learned concepts. Its aim is to uphold and sustain knowledge in an individual’s memory, even as they adopt new learning principles. Refresher trainings can be offered in a classroom but could also be carried out alone, via dry-runs or real-world scenarios. Dry-runs involve mental simulation which leads to improvements even if the whole exercise is virtual.

In language learning, you may benefit from short refresher sessions of 10-15 minutes every week or so, in which you rehearse content you have learned a while back.

For skills that you don’t need each week such as presentation skills or first aid training, a refresher session of half a day will be sufficient. Its purpose is to reinvigorate an employee’s former skills and understanding, which might otherwise deteriorate or fade away due to insufficient application.
