News consumption

News consumption is a form of continuous learning and a way to keep meaningfully engaged with the world. Here are some suggestions for mindful news consumption:

  • Consume news on trusted channels that will also show you information beyond your immediate interests, increasing cognitive stimulation.
  • For the same reason, don’t consume news only through your social media feeds by seeing what your friends have liked or shared.
  • Try and schedule news consumption, as especially during major events or crises, excessive news consumption can challenge mental health and lead to overwhelm and fatigue.
  • Keep yourself informed about new developments using different trusted sources (e.g. radio, platforms with content from trained journalists, newsletters and videos of news stations).
  • Schedule some time each day/each week to read through updates.
