Name Recall

Struggling to remember names? Here are some tips to help you out – this is especially useful if you have an upcoming work-related event to attend and will be meeting many new faces.

  • Tip 1: Ideally, prepare before meeting new people by checking the attendee list and Googling or reviewing Linkedin profiles of acquaintances. Make a conscious effort to memorise new names.
  • Tip 2: During introductions and exchange of names, repeat the person’s name and ask about pronunciation if needed.
  • Tip 3: For additional support, link the name to a memorable attribute of the person, creating associations with images or someone else with the same name. For instance, if you meet someone named Lily who loves gardening, mentally connect the name with the image of a blooming lily flower.

These strategies can make name recall more accessible and memorable.
