Using Values for Easier Decision-Making

Your personal values can really help when you’re stuck making tough choices. At first, using your values to decide might take a bit of time, but it gets easier with practice.

If you’re struggling with a decision, think about what really matters to you. Do you value things like competition, kindness, learning, friends and family, honesty, dependability, humour, or caring for the environment? Pick the values that mean the most to you. Then, look at your decision and see if it touches on any of these values. Knowing what’s important to you can make deciding easier.

This method works for work choices too. Think about the goals, vision, and values of your workplace, and let these guide you in making job-related decisions.
