What Can You Control?

This is an exercise best done during a ‘quiet hour’ when you can reflect. It’s most effective with a fresh mind, like in the morning before heading to work.

Get into a mindset that focuses on what you can control in your work life:

  • Can you choose which tasks to work on and when?
  • Can you bring your own ideas into some of your work tasks?
  • Can you switch between tasks to bring in new energy?
  • Can you vary the start and end times of your workday?

Jot down these points and keep them where you can see them. It’s all about recognising and appreciating the areas where you have control.
